Dinamo Zenit – 2 (Penaloza, Bautista) Vs Galactic – 0: Match Report

Game 6……

With a lineup thin as a mosquito’s eye-contacts, we were heading towards a real grinder.

Yours truly made the 11th man, and in old times that might have been a rather good thing, well, with a “Robocop” (Simon) strap on my leg, and a Buddha belly I as looking forward to the arrival of our missing/late 2 men – Dejan and Rafael. :-)

Regardless of our opponents huge line up (they think its FOOTBALL, not Futball), our quality showed.

Phil W made an appearance and shut off the right lane, which was the car pool lane for Galactic.

Simon B noticed no paparazzi around, and showed he got game.

Edgardo is our 2nd player who has somewhat of a 50% left ankle, but his runs, tackles and passes showed nothing of that.

FABI (aka Fernando..), mind you, was involved in a car accident 2 days before game, and you can tell, or can you?? :-)

David W supported Edgardo and Gabriel in the front with a work rate that is starting to pay off. (Yes, you do look faster on artificial pitch bro…)

The rest (Olman, Dejan, Cris, Marc, Fabio and Gabriel) did what they always do and provide us with the consistency of the level of play deserving us a winning streak.

Ah- yes, lets not forget the glimpse sight of our Swedish back up GK – not so shabby player Marten who was ready to help in anyway he could.

Mother Soccer thru us a curve ball  yesterday lads,  and we hit it out of the ball park – True Character indeed.

6 – 0

Next week we meet the Gladiators, and we will need all players to overcome these name robbers. J

Dinamo Zenit- 2 ( Bautista, Penaloza) Vs Pandemic – 0: Match Report

Game 1…..

And so we start the season with a proper BANG….. J

We were facing some small challenges with uniform/numbers, cards etc, but nothing we couldn’t manage really.

Our opponent didn’t stand a chance, well, maybe once or twice, but that was it, even a PK (bogus one I may add) was something they failed to convert, but non the less, they stuck with it for the full 90min, which goes to show– we cant lose focus until final whistle.

Our back line: Chris, Dejan, Olman and Rafael, with the support of The Dao and The Chow gave them almost nothing, and they got frustrated….

Our Mid field: Simon, Trevor, David, and Fernando (some of his Salsa moves were a treat!), under the brilliant supervision of the Brazilian Vet – Fabio, created SO many opportunities, doing unjust to the score card and to our front men.

Our Strikers: Gabriel (who showed why we missed him greatly in the latter part of last season), and our new comer – LB/WR/QB Justin C were like flees on a 2 day old Hummus and their defense hated them.

Not to forget our GK – Marc, who when he did need to move, he break danced, keeping our onion bag un-rattled.

We have some fine tuning to do, sure, but we have 13 more games to go, and it will come.

Attitude and spirits were great and positive on and off the pitch (well, if one can call it pitch), and that counts for a lot.

We will need a bit more talking on the field, a bit more focus on the ball and in our passes, some more shots, and this will be a hec of a journey.

Its unfortunate that the Refs at time spoil the party, and give cotton candy to the opponents, or just decide to give a 2nd yellow for a bad timing sub – but this is lessons/mistakes we should not repeat and learn from.

We will get a couple of guys for our next game, and as we come along, we will find our Joga Bunito…….

Well done lads!!

Yossi

For the wonderers:

What is A Zenit? – In general terms, the zenith is the direction pointing directly “above” a particular location…way up in space…which illustrates, in my mind at least, our potential.

Dinamo Zenit – Our Dinamo Club was born out of establishing an Eastern European attitude ( clean, free of routines/set plays etc) in the Western sector of the world, so all of our teams have that East’ European (RED) flavor……

Dinamo Shakhtar (Garcia, Perdomo, Medellin, Rivas, Didara & Kato) 6 v. Manchester United 0

The Miners came to play against Sir Alex Ferguson’s team on Sunday.  The Reds were a bit disorganized at the beginning of the game, but eventually got all their normal powers on the pitch.  However, despite a 2 week layoff, the Miners dominated from the start.

Controlling play and keeping possession led to a few opportunities before our defense flexed their offensive skill when Julian W, took the ball down the right wing sending a cross that found its way through their porous defense to Cesar G, on the back post for a solid strike into the net 1-0.

Soon after our normal keeper Josue P, took advantage of his time on the field by making a couple of defenders miss and sending a low left strike by the goaltender before he even knew what happened. 2-0 Miners.

Rooney and Berbatov could not find any chances up top against our stalwart defense.  Tony P, usually firing commands at the defense was simply firing words of boredom.  I did notice a couple of 2nd half passes to him so that he didn’t feel too left out of the action.  There should have been more scoring but with no threat of counter offense, the half ended comfortably at 2-0.

The second half started slow but then the flood gates opened when Shakhtar’s midfield led by Jesse H, ran circles around Ezra, Vidic and the shaky Man U. defense.

Victor M, started off the scoring slotting a perfectly placed shot after beating two defenders on the right wing.  3-0 and counting.

3 more goals from Jose R, Nenad D and our captain Mike K, in the final 15 minutes had the referee calling the game early.  Dominant performance but against a notably weak opponent from the EPL.  Who’s next Arsenal?

Great work fellas.  Welcome newcomers Jesse, Julian, Cesar and Jose R.

Let’s keep the ball rolling, literally and figuratively.

Dinamo Zenit- 5 (Penaloza x3, Carter x2) Vs Arsenal Gunners – 3: Match Report

Game 2…..

With somewhat of a one sided Ref’ calls, we managed to come back from 1 down, and make it count.

Having no subs in the first half, and only one in the second, we had them dominated, and I mean really dominated.

We are getting to know each other, who likes what, who runs where, and who likes to yell. (Beside me…. J ).

Our defense provided comfort to our mid field, which with their help, both dropping and pushing up, made their life easier.

Our Mid field made sure they support our front du-O – Gabe & Justin, and reward them for their runs – which throughout they game didn’t stop making them – Brilliant.

SO…. we know we can defend ( and where to better close the gap….), we know we can distribute ( who needs the ball, when..), and we sure know we can score – now lets get better in our first touch, more accurate& quicker passing, more off the ball movement, and a bit more talking during the game (constructively that is.. J ).

We have 12+ games to do that, and I suggest we start next week. J

Welcome to the new guys this week – Edgardo and Nick.

BOOYAKASHA!

Dinamo Spartak – 1 (Nenad) Vs S.C United – 3: Match Report

With a change of location (JF # 5 instead of the planned # 7), things looked a bit brighter…literally.. J

With some folks stuck in traffic, we started the game with 10 on the field, including our Back up GK/ Player Debut – Doug between the sticks.

A fierce opponent, and in my mind one of the more solid teams in our division, we had 2-3 opportunities that surprised even the well dressed on lookers. One in particular was our 11th man, new member Julian, who found himself with the ball, in front of the GK for his first touch/kick.

Then came a corner kick, where we were still gazing at each others fine uniforms, letting their center back all the time he needed to head on in.

Down two we took the 2nd half with more determination fueling from our Captains speech, we had them defending, resulting in a free kick, taken by the Croatian Dad – Nenad, and we are 2-1.

We had them for maybe 15 min, and then a fluke mistake, gave them the ball, and they know how to convert, that’s for sure.

We had a lot of good moments, although most of their balls and possession were due to our mistakes/passes, we now see that the back line has come together, mid field is getting there (welcome Sean), and we do need our all star strikers back in the line up to help the conversion rate go up.

We will get there….Onwards!

Now, how was the Griffin?? J

Dinamo Zenit – 2 (Carter, Jandl) Vs Cabrican – 0: Match Report

Game 3….

A VERY ugly game, with some brilliant sparks on our side; make us 3-0 now.

Next week we should be back on a good field (Griffith Park), and against an interesting competition.

We need to play better, so we are ready for whoever is the strongest team in this division.

What’s is better you ask?, Better is: take more time on the ball, accurate passing, play on the ground and try your best to NOT speak to the ref’s. (They are idiots, morons, stupid etc etc..lets get over it.)

We experienced our 2nd red card last night ( and its my 4th in 6 years now) and I want it to be our last for the season – take that as a warning. (fyi- our guy got it by saying: “Its fuking crap”, so you know what they can do for such statements etc).

Not only we jeopardize our game when a player leaves it mid way into it, we lose the player for next game etc etc – you get the pic.

Fabio is our Captain – he will do all the talking.

Other then that – This division is our for the taking, so lets get it!!

See ya next Sunday, 3:40pm. ( ah, yeah, Super Ball fans – Best but has great deals for Tivo, get one.)
