Dinamo Internazionale 0 Halstead Hooligans 1

Sean’s Dad came down to watch the Inter clogger’s put it about a bit. It can’t possibly have reminded him of his days at Brentford FC back in 1961. Still, Inter were in this contest all the way and with Sean and Benny up top we always threatened.

But there was something missing and we couldn’t finish (sound familiar). Mauricio toiled away like the Argentinian Terrier of yore and both he and Cesar played plenty into the box but there was no finish.

Of course, the back line did it’s thing and was able to channel some of the Loko energy that looks miserly upon opposing strikers. Chris Fernandez – absolutely brilliant in goal, made one small error and a speculative lob while he was off his line found the back of the net. But make no mistake – Chris earned his corn, with double saves galore in the last 20 minutes as we defended with three at the back – the unlucky Mike Penman getting sent off for a double yellow.

Standout performance from Benny Scott who was everywhere and getting his head on everything, and Cesar Molina who only finished work at 4 in the morning after the graveyard shift at the Animal Hospital.

Inter need to get a point on the board soon, but with this level of endeavour it can’t be long before we’re Sailing.
