Dinamo Lokomotiv 0 Hollywood United 1

Christian Filippella took the goalie gloves for the second time this season, and kept a clean sheet in the first half. Hollywood should consider themselves lucky to be at 0-0 at the half, with the Lokos putting on the kind of display they would previously have dreamed of. There was a steeliness about the midfield that broke down everything that came through the middle, and even Boyley found it difficult to make space for himself down the left. Chris Adams had him on a tight rein, and the holding midfield pair of Benny Scott and Ally Christie gave Hollywood nothing.

The second half introduction of Leigh Brannan made life difficult up top for Hollywood, but it was the constant threat from Nick Espiritu and Benny Durrant that meant Hollywood could never relax, and Mike Krogmann played his best game yet for The Railwaymen. Injury to Benny Scott in the second half meant a little rejigging and shortly thereafter Boyley did get loose and cut a very tight angled cross and though finished by another Hollywood striker almost didn’t cross the line. With constant pressure in the midfield, this goal was against the run of play.

Heads stayed high though and Loko continued to press, and there were always chances – but tonight a great defensive performance from the middle back gives the Lokos much to build on in the second half of the season.
