The first half was very closely fought, and Alliance were good for their 1-0 lead at the break with the Alliance player under remarkably little pressure on the edge of the 18 getting off an amazing shot to beat ‘keeper Chris Fernandez – let’s face it – it would have to be remarkable on Chris’s recent form !
But Moggsy rallied the lads at the half, and there was certainly room for some composure in addition to urgency. Daniel Winter’s ugly looking ankle roll meant a little shifting of personnel, but in the seond half Rigo Segura stepped up and was a genuine find at right back – bringing pace and physical presence.
Moggsy knocked in the leveller and it was barely three minutes later when Guillermo Andrade hit an absolutely menacing strike through their wall and into the inside side netting, unbelievable. Chris had little to do in the second period, and the Sputs served up some great footie, with Paul Jesman and Martin Gonzalez riveting in the middle and Ian Campbell ever inspiring at the back.
